Health Insurance Requirements for Domestic Graduate & Professional Students
All graduate students taking 9 credits or more per semester, all graduate assistants taking 6 credits or more, and all Law students taking 12 credits or more, must have health insurance coverage either through UNLV, or the insurance carrier of their choice. What that means is that all full time graduate and professional students will be charged for UNLV student health insurance. If you are able to provide proof that you carry alternate insurance from a non-UNLV provider, you may qualify for a waiver and the UNLV health insurance fee will be removed from your account.
The Student Health Insurance Fee for the fall 2016 semester is $901.00 which will provide insurance from August 16, 2016 through January 11, 2017. The Student Health Insurance Fee for graduate nursing students for the Fall 2016 semester is $858.60, which provides insurance coverage from August 16, 2016 to January 5, 2017.
The Graduate/Professional Spring/Summer semester fee is $1,306.98 and will provide coverage from January 12, 2017 to August 15, 2017. The fee for Graduate Nursing students for the Spring/Summer term is $1,349.38, with coverage dates of January 6, 2017 to August 15, 2017.The spring waiver site will open on November 14, 2016. The deadline for submitting a waiver for the Spring semester is February 27, 2017.
