Mission and Purpose

The Navigators Scholarship provides experiences and resources to navigate college, cultivate community and create social justice leaders. Students will receive one-on-one mentorship meetings, build on existing skills and passions, receive support and resources, and connect with a community of like-minded leaders.

Mentees

Qualifications
  • 1st & 2nd year, or transfer students
  • Enrolled in at least 6 credits
  • Availability to attend three to four events throughout the semester
  • 2.5 GPA
  • Social justice interest and/or experience

Benefits
  • Students are able to develop their leadership skills through hosted events and mentor check-ins
  • Students will develop their knowledge of social justice theories and models
  • $1000 scholarship
    • $500 per semester given the successful completion of all requirements

Mentor

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3rd or 4th year students
  • Enrolled in at least 6 credits
  • Availability to attend three to four events throughout the semester
  • 2.5 GPA
  • Social justice interest or experience working with social justice centered work

Mentor Application 23-24

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for professional development of mentors
  • Provides resources and communication between Office of Service Learning and Leadership and st
  • Recruits Navigators and attends meetings with partners on and off campus to work in collaboration with Navigators
  • Conducts weekly check-ins with mentor advisor
  • Conducts check-ins with mentors once a month
  • Ensures accountability of all members of the program

  • Junior or Senior class standing(60+ college credits). or graduate students with leadership experience
  • Ability to work up to five hours per week
  • Previous mentoring experience or mentor program participation
  • Maintain regular contact with mentees and mentor advisor
  • Reports to mentor advisor/graduate assistant
  • Assists in leading, planning, or facilitating up to one event per month with SLL Office

  • Underclassmen (less than 60 college credits) with social justice interest/experience
  • Utilize resources and attend events
  • Attend check-ins with mentors
  • Work with peer group to create an innovative social justice project
