2027 DREAM Academy
The next DREAM Academy Program will take place in spring of 2027 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Each day will be based out of the UNLV Lifelong Learning Center across from the main campus and additional Vegas-based learning excursions will round out the week’s hands-on content experiences. We will cover a range of topics from personal branding to the role of trust in leadership to ethics and morality (and more!) to give you the tools and motivation you need to take the next step in your career.
We are working on the new program agenda. Below is the agenda from our last program to give you a baseline of the types of speakers, topics, and experiences you can expect from our upcoming cohort.
Agenda
Soldier vs. Scout Mentality
Perspective is everything, especially when it comes to examining your beliefs. Are you a soldier, prone to defending your viewpoint at all costs — or a scout, spurred by curiosity? What are the motivations behind these two mindsets and how do they shape the way we interpret information.
Everyday Leadership
All too often leadership is equated to a person in the C-suite, title, or motivational speaker. Leadership is needed at all levels of an organization and in a variety of circumstances. It is not uncommon for people to read a few leadership books, attend a motivational conference, or participate in a leadership development program hosted by a professional association, and feel they have arrived at their destination. These are all fantastic stepping stones; however, leadership requires action and application in real world environments. It is beyond reading a few books or attending a program that can even develop a false sense of elitism, further alienating the people you are hoping to lead. Tyler Burtis, blends leadership theory with the pragmatic application of real leadership in competitive, entertainment, and high-risk environments.
Difficult Conversations
This session will cover a practical approach to communicating clearly, respectfully, and effectively when situations are uncomfortable or emotionally charged. How can we apply confidence, professionalism and empathy in areas of conflict including constructive feedback, boundary setting and other workplace challenges that arise.
The Power of Improv
How well do you think on your feet? Whether during a press conference, question and answer sessions or anytime you speak publicly, leaders need to be able to speak and act quickly and concisely. This exercise will engage and entertain as we learn all about the power of improvisation.
Circa Las Vegas
Today we will tour the newest integrated resort in Downtown Las Vegas, Circa. The tour will include a full back of house experience along with a Q & A session with senior executives.
Communicate Your Dream: Personal Branding & Communication for Emerging Leaders
This session will empower participants to define and express their unique value as leaders. Through hands-on exercises and guided reflection, participants will craft a personal brand statement and learn how to communicate it confidently across professional settings. As part of the DREAM Academy, this session is essential in helping emerging leaders build credibility, influence, and alignment between who they are and how they lead. Immediate takeaways include a refined elevator pitch, greater self-awareness, and practical tools to elevate personal presence. By learning to lead with authenticity and clarity, participants will strengthen their impact in both current and future leadership roles.
Complexities of Leadership
How can modern leaders navigate complex human behavior and social issues in alignment with organizational goals? How critical are the roles of mentor, motivator and manager to both an individual’s and organization’s success and sustainability?
The answer to these questions can be seen through an assessment of today’s changing landscape of leadership. Today, the landscape looks different. Leaders must lead. They must find effective ways to build feelings of belonging, encourage colleagues to identify and pursue their larger purpose in life, and craft working environments that support operational and personal success.
How to Be a Resilient and Adaptable Leader
Leading well under pressure and change requires more than doing your job well. It requires a set of psychological and emotional skills known as psychological flexibility and strategic adaptability. During times of high stress, leaders accept difficult emotions and lean into discomfort rather than resist it. Learn how to look at the big picture since challenges can narrow perspectives. Psychological distance helps you make better decisions. By responding with flexibility, you can always think of other ways to approach solving a problem. Most importantly, impactful leaders always fall back on their valued goals during stressful times to navigate their decisions and actions.
Top Leadership Skills for 2026
What is leadership in 2026? What skills do you need to demonstrate leadership within your organization? This session explores the top skills for you to lead through the challenges of today’s uncertainty, communicate with authenticity, inspire, and build trust and gain a keen understanding on how strategic thinking can drive organizational effectiveness.
Goal Setting That Matters
While personal goal setting is the staple of every performance review, how can you make your personal and professional goals more impactful and meaningful to you. This session will discuss how to create goals using the SMART method and how to better align those goals to organizational strategies and goals.
Ethics, Integrity and Action
Integrity is often described as doing the right thing in a reliable way. It's a personality trait that we admire, since it means a person has a moral compass that doesn't waver. It literally means having "wholeness" of character, just as an integer is a "whole number" with no fractions. Physical objects can display integrity, too — if you're going over a rickety old bridge that sways in the wind, you might question its structural integrity. But what does real integrity look like and how can you gauge where your moral compass is?
Driving Leadership to Accelerate Impact
Winning performance requires more than speed—it demands strategic thinking, seamless teamwork, and flawless execution. The Ferreira Formula combines the competitive insights of motorsports with proven leadership methodologies to help leaders accelerate performance, strengthen teams, and deliver results when it matters most.
Leadership Lessons from Historic Underdogs
Who gets remembered by history—and who gets forgotten? We know the famous heroes whose names have become part of history. But countless others changed the world without ever receiving the recognition they deserved. Some overcame extraordinary adversity or challenged the status quo while others made decisions that saved millions of lives—yet remain largely unknown. Their stories matter because of more than what they accomplished. They reveal how they led. How do you lead when the odds are against you? How do you persevere when the path forward is unclear? And what can their experiences teach leaders today? In this presentation, we’ll uncover the stories of these overlooked heroes and the leadership lessons behind them. Because leadership isn’t defined by fame or recognition. It’s defined by what we do when the moment demands it.
Caesars Entertainment
Today we will spend the day with Caesars Entertainment. We will tour their gaming and security operations as well as tour VIP suites before a panel discussion with their senior executives. The day will conclude with lunch.
