Audition Material
- Scales: could be any mode in any key. Be prepared to play 2 octaves up and down.
- Standard: be ready with a couple of your favorite standards. (Have a variety of styles prepared i.e. swing, bossa, funk etc.) You will have a rhythm section to accompany you, so please bring a lead sheet as a courtesy to them.
- Sight Reading: you will be presented with a short excerpt, and will be expected to read it.
Instrumental placement auditions will be held in HFA 238 Monday, August 17th; Tuesday, August 18th; and Wednesday, August 19th. These auditions are mandatory for all students who are participating in any aspect of our Jazz & Commercial Music Program, including ensembles, combos, lessons, and scholarship allocation or continuance.
