Gateway Mathematics Preparation
We provide preparatory mathematics courses to help students achieve college math readiness and we oversee the ALEKS math placement assessment.

Mathematics Preparatory Courses
All undergraduate degrees have a minimum mathematics requirement. Do you qualify for direct enrollment? If not, our preparatory math courses are uniquely designed to get you ready for success in the math course(s) required for your major. There are two math pathways at UNLV. Math 95 leads to Math 120 and Math 96 leads to Math 122, 124, or 126. If you are unsure of your math pathway or requirements visit our resources link to find out how to contact your academic advisor.

ALEKS
The ALEKS Mathematics Placement Assessment and Learning Modules (PPL) is a computer-adaptive individualized diagnostic assessment that is able to identify the most appropriate math course placement. If your credentials do not allow you to directly enroll in your college-level math course, ALEKS is an option that can determine your placement and provide you with customized learning modules to help you improve. If possible, students should take ALEKS before New Student Orientation or prior to the next enrollment date for semester courses.
Student Resources
There are many resources available on campus to help students succeed in their preparatory math course.
