The Office of Government Affairs promotes effective communication between representatives of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and representatives of the local, state and federal government.
The primary goal of our office is to facilitate positive interactions and communications between the university and government agencies to further UNLV’s mission as Nevada's internationally recognized research institution, which is charged with a tri-partite mission of providing outstanding educational, research and recreational facilities. The Office of Government Affairs monitors legislative development and provides accurate and timely analyses of proposals and the potential impact on UNLV students, faculty, staff or research interests. The UNLV Top Tier Initiative is an extension of our vision of entering the top 100 American research universities, as designated by the Carnegie Foundation as a Highest Research Activity (R1) University.
For this, we depend heavily on the expertise of our faculty and staff. UNLV’s long-standing policy and procedures require official University governmental contacts to be made through the Office of Government Affairs, thereby assuring one official voice for the University.
