  • Bio-Rad CFX96 Touch™

    The Bio-Rad CFX96 Touch™ is a real-time PCR detection system that can multiplex up to five different targets using as low as 10 uL reaction volume. This system features six filtered LEDs and photodiodes for fluorescence excitation and emission, programmable thermal gradient, and melt-curve functions. The CFX Manager™ Software offers advanced data analysis tools for normalized gene expression, allelic discrimination, end-point analysis, and analysis of Bio-Rad PrimePCR™ Assays and Panels.

  • Fluidics Station 450

    The Fluidics Station 450, which is a component of the Affymetrix GeneChip instrument system.  The Affymetrix GeneChip instrument system is used to hybridize, wash, stain, scan and analyze Affymetrix microarrays, including gene and exon expression, SNP, tiling and miRNA GeneChip microarrays.

  • Ron Gary

    Ron Gary, UNLV Genomics Core lab director analyzes the integrity of RNA samples using the Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer.  The RNA samples were extracted from cultured human glioblastoma cell line A-172 and after RNA integrity analysis, the RNA was used as starting material to run Affymetrix 1.0 ST gene expression microarrays.

  • Omnigrid 100

    A close up view of the Omnigrid 100 microarrayer.  The Omnigrid 100 is a fully automated high capacity microarrayer that functions to print DNA samples onto solid substrates such as glass slides.  The custom DNA spotted slides can then be used to perform microarray studies.

  • Casey Hall-Wheeler

    Casey Hall-Wheeler, UNLV Genomics Core manager positions a Western blot onto the glass platen of the Typhoon 9410 variable mode imager to scan and detect fluorescent labeled proteins.  The Typhoon can scan and detect nucleic acids and proteins labeled with single or multiple fluorescent, phosphorescent or chemiluminescent probes.

The UNLV Genomics Core Facility provides a full range of structural and functional genomics services to investigators in Nevada and beyond. The state-of-the-art facility provides a wide range of genomics instrumentation and offers training for the use of equipment. Staff may also be contracted to perform selected services.
