The Faculty Senate works with university administration to promote shared governance and advance the vision and direction of our institution. Through transparent collaboration, we champion the freedom of thought and expression as the basic tenet of the academic environment at UNLV.

Senate Meetings
The UNLV Faculty Senate meets monthly during the academic year. The meeting agenda typically includes reports from our chair, committees, and/or other Faculty Senate members; university action items; and public comments. Meetings are open to anyone who is interested in attending.
Senate Committees
We are made up of multiple committees, each consisting of senators and senior senators who focus on a specific area of the university. These decisions of these committees impact curriculum, academic policy, personnel and careers, student achievement, innovation and advancement.
Senator Profiles
Each unit appoints senators who are responsible for expressing their unit’s opinions and needs to senate committees. We encourage you to connect with your senator as a way of getting involved and making your voice be heard.
Faculty Senate Resolutions
Our resolutions contribute to assuring quality in university research, creative activity, teaching, and service. They also address competitive compensation, adequate benefits, and creating an inclusive, equitable work environment conducive to academic achievement.
Governing Documents and Resources for UNLV and NSHE
Universities are built on a foundation of bylaws, policies, and procedures. The Faculty Senate reviews these governing documents, assesses how they are being implemented, and votes on university bylaw changes.
