UNLV’s Climate Action Plan
Engage. Innovate. Achieve.
UNLV’s Sustainability Task Force has partnered with Brailsford & Dunlavey, a program management firm based in Washington, D.C., to create a campus-wide climate action plan, nicknamed the Rebel CAP. Once complete, the Rebel CAP will provide the roadmap for a more sustainable and climate-resilient future for UNLV.
Roadmap
The climate action planning process kicked off in May 2023 and will take approximately 12 to 18 months to complete. It includes three key phases. Please note that the dates for each phase are estimates and may change.
- Timeline: Spring through fall 2023
- Activities
- Quantitative and qualitative data collection.
- Solicit feedback from faculty, staff, and students using the Rebel CAP ideas assessment survey.
- Establish a formal engagement structure for decision-making, including the existing Sustainability Task Force and new, topic-specific working groups.
- Timeline: Fall 2023 to winter 2024
- Rebel CAP kick-off event
- Activities
- Stakeholder engagement events.
- Sustainability task force and working groups host meetings to discuss and make recommendations to incorporate into the Rebel CAP.
- The Task Force presents the final recommendations from each working group to Top Tier members for feedback.
- Modeling and scenario testing of each recommendation to ensure draft Rebel CAP is specific to the unique circumstances at UNLV, achievable, and financially viable.
- Winter to spring 2024
- Activities
- Plan is socialized with faculty, staff, and students and opportunities for these groups to provide feedback are given.
- Rebel CAP is published.

Working Group Recommendations and Community Feedback
The Sustainability Task Force and seven topic-specific working groups developed the recommendations to include in our Rebel Climate Action Plan (Rebel CAP). We need your input to refine these recommendations by providing feedback, recommendations, or expressing your support.
