Description
A new kind of radio telescope, to be built in a remote Great Basin valley in Nevada, will revolutionize radio astronomy. It will consist of2000 dishes. Signals from each antenna are brought together viaunderground fiber optic cables and combined in a central super computer. The telescope will detect more new radio sources than all other radio telescopes combined to date. The measurements willtransform our understanding of the cosmos, ranging from the formation and growth of super-massive black holes to detecting thestretching and squeezing of the very fabric of the Universe.
