The UNLV Military & Veterans Services Center (MVSC) and the student-led Rebel Veterans Organization will host a Memorial Day ceremony outside the UNLV Veterans Memorial on campus (near Judy Bayley Theatre). The university community is invited to attend. 

The event will also mark the kick off for Operation Battle Born, an annual ceremonial ruck march to honor U.S. military service members who’ve fallen in action since 9/11. Over Memorial Day weekend, teams of UNLV student veterans and volunteers will take turns carrying military style backpacks, known as ruck sacks, 60 miles from Armargosa Valley to Las Vegas. The statewide event is held annually with Truckee Meadows Community College, whose student veterans and volunteers complete a similar march in Northern Nevada.
