GC: Mentoring Resource Panel
When
Office/Remote Location
Description
Throughout your college career you will give and receive advice from colleagues, peers, and instructors. This advice is often from the more experienced person and includes academic, professional, and even personal mentorship. In the academic setting, mentors teach, sponsor, encourage, and counsel a less skilled or less experienced individual for the purpose of promoting the individual's professional and/or personal development. A successful mentor communicates regularly, establishes expectations, utilizes planning and communication tools, and offers advice via different methods and modalities. Join us to hear from several different campus partners on the resources their departments offer in support of mentors.
By participating in this workshop you will:
- Develop an understanding of what makes a good mentor
- Learn how to develop communication skills and how to set boundaries
- Learn about UNLV Campus resources
