Description

Hosted by the Sands Institute for Chinese Language and Culture at UNLV, this special film screening and Q&A features Far East Deep South, a powerful documentary exploring identity, immigration, and the often-overlooked history of Chinese Americans in the segregated South.

The film follows Charles Chiu and his family’s journey through the Mississippi Delta as they uncover their ancestral roots and confront the complex realities of race and belonging in America.

Following the screening, guests will have the opportunity to engage in a live Q&A with producer Baldwin Chiu, a nationally recognized speaker and storyteller on Asian American identity. This event invites attendees to reflect on history, deepen cultural understanding, and participate in meaningful dialogue.
