Description

To celebrate the publication of Dry Heat: Issue 3, we're holding a launch event with readings from some of the writers (Scott Dickensheets, Chase R. McCurdy) and an introduction from the guest editor, Jennifer Kleven. Dry Heat: Issue 3 explores the theme of public art, with new essays by Sapira Cheuk, Dickensheets, Sarah Lohman, McCurdy, and Laurens Tan. Should we think of casino buffets as public art? Can public art make us feel more at home in the city where we live? And do the artists who make it get paid enough?

To find out, join us in the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art Auditorium from 6 -7 p.m. on Tuesday, October, 24. Free copies of Dry Heat issues 2 and 3 will be available.

Issues 2 and 3 of Dry Heat are supported in part by Nevada Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Miguel Rodriguez’s Jaguar was photographed by Becca Schwartz.
