Description
Associate professor of piano at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Timothy Hoft, will perform solo piano works by Ukrainian composers. The program will begin with Boris Lyatoshynsky's "Sonata-Ballade," then continues with compositions by two composers who studied with Lyatohynsky: Leonid Hrabovsky's "For Elissa" and Valentin Silvestrov's "Kitsch-Music." The second half of the program will continue with Hoft's own transcription of Virko Baley's monumental Symphony no. 1 "Sacred Monuments." This work is in four movements, and each movement is an homage to four important Ukrainian composers of the past: Maxim Berezovsky, Artem Vedel, Dmytro Bortniansky, and Boris Lyatoshynsky.
