Description

This training course is designed to cover topics in general laboratory safety including personal protective equipment, the proper use of chemical fume hoods, hazardous chemical usage and storage, hazard communication, proper waste segregation and waste disposal, proper gas cylinder use, and spill and emergency response.

Audience

All laboratory personnel (principal investigators [PIs], post-docs, graduate and undergraduate students, visiting researchers, volunteer researchers, etc.) working in areas where chemicals, biological agents, radiological hazards, lasers, industrial machinery, and/or nanomaterials are used or stored. This initial training is required to be completed prior to commencing work in the laboratory.

Admission Information

All online safety training modules and annual refresher courses previously housed in REBELearn and Student Safety Academy have now migrated to CHIMERA.

Please note: All in-person safety training, including in-person Chemical Hygiene training, must now be registered for directly by participants through their CHIMERA account by selecting the desired course and training date.
