Description

SACCHARINE RECKONING

Ali Fathollahi MFA Thesis Exhibition

Reception: March 8, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.

One-time performance the evening of the reception.“Saccharine Reckoning” is the thesis exhibition of MFA Candidate Ali Fathollahi that critiques America's obsession with Survivalism as both a lifestyle and an ideology, each motivated by fear and nostalgia. The exhibitionconsists of work in the mediums of sculpture, installation, video projection and performance, which transform the gallery into a dysfunctional shelter or bunker-house like space. The encounter relies on an immersive experience. Visitors will be given flashlights and instructions to guide them through the space as amateur doomsday preppers.
