Disabled students participating in graduation should meet at the Cox Pavilion tunnel an hour prior to the commencement ceremony; they will join their colleges in the Cox Pavilion tunnel for the processional into the Thomas & Mack Center. (They should not go to the second floor of the Cox Pavilion.)
Graduating students who are disabled may be assisted by one family member or friend who may sit with the student throughout the commencement ceremony. The commencement stage is accessible to those with mobility problems. Students in wheelchairs can pick up their diplomas on stage.
Handicapped parking spaces are located in all sections of the Thomas & Mack Center parking lot.
For the Hearing Impaired
Reserved seating for the hearing impaired will be designated in section 115. Please ask an usher to direct you. Sign language interpreters are present on stage during the ceremony and closed captioning is available on the big screen. Also, assisted listening devices are available; the devices should be requested at least 72 hours prior to the graduation ceremony. Call the Thomas & Mack Center at 702-895-0974 or 702-895-1673 to request a device.
Seating for Disabled Guests
Limited seating is available on the Thomas & Mack Center floor for disabled guests, who may be accompanied by one person only. We are sorry, but we cannot accommodate more than one person assisting each disabled guest on the floor of the facility during the ceremony.
Wheelchairs for Guests
Wheelchairs are available to assist guests from the Thomas & Mack Center entrance to their seats on the floor of the facility. Guests with disabilities can request wheelchairs from any Thomas & Mack Center usher. The wheelchairs are available for the purpose of getting the disabled guest to his or her seat but are not available for use during the ceremony.
