Welcome New Students!

Hello and welcome to the College of Education's Education Student Services Center (ESSC)! We are excited to have you join our college! Not only does our office provide academic guidance for all of our students, but we are also available to help you every step of the way as you navigate these next few years at UNLV.

As a new student it is important to complete the following tasks prior to attending New Student Orientation (NSO) or meeting with an advisor:

  • Know your login info and become familiar with your MyUNLV account
  • Activate your RebelMail UNLV email account
  • Visit the Student Resources section on our website
  • Become familiar with your major and degree requirements
  • Submit official ACT/SAT or AP scores (freshmen)
  • Submit transcripts for any college you may have attended (freshman & transfer students)

Academic advising is mandatory for all new students. It is important for you to be enrolled in the appropriate classes in order to stay on track for graduation.

Fall Admit

Freshman

All incoming freshmen are required to attend New Student Orientation (NSO). At NSO you will learn about campus life at UNLV, resources available to students, learn more about your major and graduation requirements, and most importantly receive your class schedule. In addition to all of the new information you will receive, you will also have the opportunity to connect with various staff throughout campus, including part of our advising staff.

Register for New Student Orientation (NSO)

All freshmen are required to attend NSO. Log in to your MyUNLV Student Center and click on the "Register for Orientation" link to sign up. Note that the link is activated as we get closer to summer, so if it is not available when you check, come back periodically to register as soon as it is available.

Register for Orientation

After completing the online registration process, you will receive a confirmation email which will include program times, parking information, directions, and check-in information. The confirmation email verifies that you are registered for a session. Be sure to check spam and junk mail folders if you don't initially receive your confirmation. If you have not received confirmation after completing the online registration process, please email orientation@unlv.edu with a request to resend the confirmation notice.

Transfer Student

You will have a "new student advising hold" placed on your account, which restricts you from registering for classes. Please call the Education Student Services Center- 702-895-1537 to schedule your advising appointment as soon as possible. During this appointment, you and your advisor will review any previous coursework, discuss your degree requirements, schedule your first semester of classes, and plan you out through graduation with a graduation goal sheet. After you meet with your advisor, the hold will be removed and you will be able to register for classes.
