Originally part of the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost, the Office of Academic Resource was established as its own unit in 2004 to provide specialized HR and budget functions for UNLV’s academic enterprise. Working in collaboration with Human Resources and Financial Planning, Budget & Analysis, the office is dedicated to supporting the university’s provost in strategic management of financial and human resources. This mission is vital for the growth and advancement of the academic community at UNLV.

The office's key responsibilities are divided into two main areas: (1) recruitment and compensation and (2) budget and finance. In recruitment and compensation, the focus is on managing faculty recruitment, overseeing compensation reviews, and appointing academic leaders. In budget and finance, the office supports financial planning and resource allocation, administers and processes transactions for the Provost’s office accounts, reviews fee proposals, and coordinates with other units on financial matters. Through these functions, the Office of Academic Resources contributes significantly to UNLV’s academic and operational efficiency.
