About Our Spaces
The Teaching & Learning Commons (TLC) offers reservable spaces for lectures, presentations, workshops, or events. There is also a lounge open to all academic and administrative faculty. This page provides information about our rooms, guidelines, and the reservation process.
Available Spaces
Multi-Use Room (BEH 240) - Limited to 34 Attendees
The table orientation in BEH 240 can be configured in many different ways based on your event needs. The room features RebelFlex technology which can be fully controlled from the computer at the lectern.
Lounge (BEH 235) - Limited to 45 Attendees
The TLC faculty lounge is open to all academic and administrative faculty for drop-ins every morning until 12pm and is reservable for events after 12pm. It’s the perfect place for casual and social meetings or events. We play lively, relaxing music and offer a welcoming environment. The room features a kitchenette with a microwave, ice machine, mini fridge, Keurig machine, toaster, sink, and purified water dispenser. There is also a small library that you can check out pedagogical, teaching, and research books from. All of the tables and chairs have outlets to charge your devices.
Guidelines for Use
Eligibility
Rooms are for faculty, staff, and departmental use – not for students to hold their meetings or for faculty to teach a class. Students are allowed in a TLC Space as long as the meeting is facilitated by a faculty member for the entirety of the event. Please email tl.commons@unlv.edu if you have any questions.
Room Access
Your Rebelcard unlocks and locks BEH-235 and BEH-240. When you are using BEH-240 (multi-use room) or BEH-235 (faculty lounge) outside of office hours, you will need room access. Please lock the door when your meeting is over.
If you would like card reader access for your meeting, please email tl.commons@unlv.edu with the last 6 digits on the back of your RebelCard (under the black bar) and your NSHE ID.
Housekeeping
When you use TLC spaces, we ask that you leave rooms as you found them. This includes returning tables and chairs back and wiping down tables, lecterns/keyboard/mouse, and whiteboards. Cleaning supplies are located in the back of BEH-235 and BEH-240.
Put trash and recyclables in the proper bins and pick up any debris left on the floor. If there is a lot of debris and other events are scheduled after yours, ask for the vacuum cleaner. If your event is the last one for the day, Custodial Services will vacuum.
Food
Food is allowed in all of the rooms. You can use tables in BEH-240, or ask to use our foldable tables (two 6' rectangular tables and one 3' square table). Please provide your own linens, and tables should be returned at the end of your event. If you need to store any food or drinks, we have a regular size refrigerator in the storage room and a smaller refrigerator in the lounge. There is also an ice maker and purified water dispenser in BEH 235 (faculty lounge).
Reserve a Space
These spaces are available to reserve through Google Calendar under the “add rooms or location” section of the Event creator.
- From your Google calendar, create the event and select “More options.”
- Insert the date, time, any other information, and click the “Room” tab which is located next to the “Guests” tab.
- Select which space(s) you would like to reserve.
Please note the following:
- If the room number does not show or is crossed out, the room is not available.
- Space reservations may require approval or rescheduling. We will reach out directly to you if this is the case.
- We recommend creating a buffer time before and after your event for setup and takedown. This allows for a smoother transition between scheduled events.
- Do not put anything in the location field. This will prevent your event from appearing on the outside digital signage.
If you need any assistance reserving a space, please email tl.commons@unlv.edu.
