Weekend And Week-Long Trips
Application Instructions
Weekend and week-long trips require a simple application that takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. You'll be asked to provide basic personal information, your trip interest, what you hope to gain from the experience, and your anticipated group contributions based on your experiences and knowledge.
Overview of Trip Application & Selection Process
- Application: Students should locate the Involvement Center event page for the trip in which they are interested. Once students select “Register”, they will be prompted to complete an application that takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. They'll be asked to provide basic personal information, their trip interest, what they hope to gain from the experience, and their anticipated group contributions based on their experiences and knowledge.
- Review: On a first-come, first-served basis, the Alt Breaks team will review submitted applications and decide if the student will be offered or denied a spot on the trip. If there are more applicants than spots on the trip, students may be offered a spot on a waitlist.
- Deposit: If offered a spot on a trip, students will be given instructions and a deadline to make their mandatory $50 deposit to hold their spot.
- Final Payment & Registration: Selected students who have paid their deposit will then be required to make their final trip fee payment. While making this payment, they will also fill out the final registration form to completely confirm their spot on the trip. If a student is selected for a travel grant, the final payment fee will be adjusted accordingly.
- Mandatory Commitments: Confirmed students will be given information regarding mandatory meeting and travel dates; these students should be sure to add these to their calendar.
Deadlines
Deadlines to register for weekend and week-long trips will be provided on their respective registration pages below, and they are typically three to four weeks prior to the set travel dates.
Mandatory Commitments
Remember to review the trip description for mandatory meeting and travel dates. Be sure to add these time commitments to your calendar.
One-Day Immersions
Registration Instructions
Our Alternative Break Immersions provide students the opportunity to sample a day similar to what they could expect on one of our weekend or week-long trips but without the need to travel out of town or spend the night with the group. These events are offered for free and do not require an application; however, students must register themselves following the instructions provided on the Immersions listings below. Spots on these trips are limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis and a waitlist will be created if needed.
Deadlines
Deadlines to register for Alternative Break Immersions will be provided on their respective registration pages below but are typically by the Wednesday before the event would occur.
Mandatory Commitments
Unlike the weekend and week-long trips, there are no additional meeting requirements for Alternative Break Immersions except attendance on the actual event date.
