Note: Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions on in-person gatherings, the 2021 high school fair will be an asynchronous, virtual event. Students will submit a video and/or presentation to be judged. Thanks for your understanding.
About the Fair
The Beal Bank USA Southern Nevada Regional Science & Engineering Fair promotes an interest in scientific and engineering studies for high school students in Clark and other regional counties. Other students in the state of Nevada may participate with approval by the fair's director. Held at UNLV, the fair is sponsored by Beal Bank USA and is hosted by UNLV’s College of Sciences.
The fair’s affiliation with the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) requires that high school students follow guidelines established by the ISEF.
The benefits of competing in the fair include:
- Cash prizes for select winners
- Medals and trophies
- Winners could compete at the international fair
- Money for your school's science department
For projects using vertebrate animals or bio-hazards (e.g. bacteria), human participants, or hazardous chemicals, the required forms must be submitted to the SNRSEF director for Scientific Review Committee approval before they start work on their projects. Failure to do this could result in lost points at the regional fair, and being disqualified from competing at the International Fair. Documents that are required can easily be determined by completing the ISEF Rules Wizard. Literature searches cannot be submitted for the competition.
Registration will not be available online after the deadline, and no late off-line submissions will be accepted. If the school fails to meet the deadlines, the school is responsible for immediately notifying students who thought their projects would be submitted to the regional fair. If students show up at the fair without prior school/student registration or timely submission of documents, they will not be allowed to compete in the fair.
