Tifara Rachal joined the Ombuds Office in Fall of 2021. Before joining the office, Ms. Rachal spent her first few years at UNLV providing primary administrative support for the Clinical Sciences department at the School of Dental Medicine. She brings with her decades of experience as an administrative professional she has proven herself well-equipped to support the ombuds and manage the Ombuds Office programs to the IOA standards of practice. Ms. Rachal, generally your first point of contact with the Ombuds Office, is responsible for scheduling meetings and visitor appointments. She works with other departments to coordinate Ombuds Office programs and workshops delivered to UNLV faculty, staff, and students.

Ms. Rachal has completed the Boyd School of Law’s 40-hour Mediator Essentials training and is certificated as a facilitative mediator. She views mediation as an opportunity to help parties identify their underlying needs and interests and develop solutions that they may not have considered in a less confidential and facilitative environment. As a facilitative mediator, she takes an objective role, encouraging parties to listen respectfully, make good assessments, explore solutions and come to agreeable outcomes. Ms. Rachal believes a successful mediation is one in which the parties are satisfied with both the process and the outcome.
