Chris Viton

Biography
As Vice President for Business Affairs and Chief Financial Officer, Chris Viton oversees a division of more than 500 employees charged with stewarding the university's physical and financial infrastructure. A principled leader who puts people first, he invests in his team's growth and cultivates a culture of transparency, shared purpose, and operational excellence, all in service of UNLV's students, faculty, and staff. Mr. Viton brings a collaborative, data-informed approach to university leadership, fostering cross-divisional partnerships and strategically aligning resources with UNLV's academic and research mission. He also represents UNLV on the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Business Officers Council (BOC).
Background
Mr. Viton brings more than 30 years of financial management experience across the private and public sectors. He most recently served as Vice Chancellor of Budget and Finance for the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) where he provided strategic oversight of systemwide financial strategy and fiscal policies. Prior to that role, he spent more than 17 years at UNLV in leadership positions within central operations, including Associate Vice President of Financial Services / Controller. He began his service to the Las Vegas community in 2001 as Controller for the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada.
