ALEKS is not only a placement assessment, it uses your responses from the initial assessment to provide you with personalized learning modules (ALEKS learning pie) to help you improve your mathematical content knowledge.

If you did not place into the math course required by your chosen major:

• Keep working in the Preparation and Learning Modules by clicking “continue” on the Prep Course Page in your ALEKS account -- continue to access your ALEKS account through MyUNLV.
  • If you complete your current learning pie, I can request an upgrade to the next level of content. Message me to request a pie upgrade.
• This will help increase your score when you take subsequent placement assessments and/or increase the likelihood of a better grade in the course in which you place.
• Work in the learning modules for at least 8 hours to unlock your next ALEKS math placement assessment.

If you did place into the math course required by your chosen major:

• You are encouraged to work in your customized learning modules as this can help you succeed in your next math course -- continue to access your ALEKS account through MyUNLV.
• You can retake the ALEKS math placement assessment if you would like.
• If you placed into your required math course for your chosen major and do not wish to further engage with ALEKS, navigate to Next Steps.
