Honors Medallion

Virtual Medallion Ceremony Class of 2020

Each semester, the Honors College hosts a private Medallion Ceremony to individually recognize each of our graduates and celebrate their accomplishments alongside family, friends, and the Honors College faculty & staff. During the ceremony, graduates receive their Honors College Medallion, which they proudly wear at UNLV Commencement the following day.

Due to the continuing COVID-19 public health risks posed by large gatherings and in accordance with UNLV’s plans for the 2020 Commencement Ceremonies, the Honors College will host a Virtual Medallion Ceremony for our 2020 graduates on Monday, December 14 at 3:00 p.m.

Please check your email for updates from the Honors College that will include details about your participation in the ceremony via Zoom.

Medallion Ceremony

Information for Graduates

Because this is an interactive event, all participating graduates will need to do the following:

  1. Have Your Honors Medallion On-Hand

    (Graduates who already picked up their Medallion in-person can disregard this section)

    The Honors College will be mailing Medallions, event programs, and gifts to all graduates who completed the RSVP (see email). Packages will be sent on December 4. If you still have not received your package by December 9, please contact daniel.coyle@unlv.edu. 

  2. Download the Latest Version of Zoom

    In order to fully participate in the event, please install the latest version of Zoom. We strongly recommend accessing the event from a desktop/laptop for the best user experience. We also request that you keep your video enabled (camera on) during the entire event.

  3. Make the Most of the Virtual Event

    A few tips on how to approach the event:

    • Stay Present. We know it is always tempting to multitask during virtual meetings/event. Make this one different. Plan to be “all-in” for the 90-minute event.
    • Eliminate Distractions. Close all other programs on your computer; make your Zoom window full-screen; resist the urge to check your phone.  
    • Include Family/Friends. Invite loved ones to join you for the ceremony! Have the people in your space sit alongside you; invite others to tune-in to the YouTube Live event
