Before the Fair: How to Prepare

• Pre-register on Handshake to receive important updates and reminders.
• Research employers attending the fair—come prepared with a question or two.
• Update your resume and have it reviewed by Career Services.
• Update your Handshake profile and upload your resume.
• Practice your elevator pitch so you're ready to introduce yourself with confidence.
• Meet with a career coach by booking through Handshake to ensure you're fully prepared.

Tips for the Day of the Fair

• Bring your smartphone to check in at booths and share your resume via the Handshake app.
• Bring printed copies of your resume for employers who don’t use Handshake.
• Dress professionally and make a strong first impression.
• Be prepared to introduce yourself—be friendly, confident, and brief.
• Be mindful of time—keep conversations focused and let others have a turn.
