As part of the Applying AI Strategies in Your Online Teaching series, this session explores the evolving role of AI in teaching and learning. During this 45-minute virtual conversation, faculty will examine common uses of AI in higher education, including community and relationship building and building classroom policies. By the end of this session you will be able to:
- Identify common ways AI is used in teaching and learning, including research, brainstorming, and writing, while addressing common misconceptions and limitations.
- Recognize institutional considerations related to AI use, including UNLV-approved tools and the limitations of AI detection technologies.
- Evaluate the role of AI in assessment, with an emphasis on formative, summative, and authentic assessment practices that support student learning outcomes and engagement.
Active listening and thoughtful participation is encouraged to promote meaningful discussion and ensure participants benefit from the shared ideas and experiences of the group.
