As part of the Applying AI Strategies in Your Online Teaching series, this session explores the evolving role of AI in teaching and learning. During this 45-minute virtual conversation, faculty will examine common uses of AI in higher education, including research support, brainstorming, and writing, while addressing common misconceptions and practical limitations.

By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Identify common ways AI is used in teaching and learning, including research, brainstorming, and writing, while addressing common misconceptions and limitations.
  • Recognize institutional considerations related to AI use, including UNLV-approved tools and the limitations of AI detection technologies.
  • Evaluate the role of AI in assessment, with an emphasis on formative, summative, and authentic assessment practices that support student learning outcomes and engagement.
