Teaching Emotional Regulation Without Punishment
When
Office/Remote Location
Description
When a child is mid-meltdown, lectures, warnings, or consequences rarely work because the part of the brain that listens is temporarily offline. In this huddle, participants will learn the practical difference between punishment, consequence, and discipline; how to validate a child's emotion while holding a firm limit; co-regulation strategies from toddlerhood through adolescence; and how repair after a caregiver's own lost temper becomes part of the teaching. Together, we'll explore what may be happening beneath your child's challenging behavior and how to respond in ways that build lasting regulation skills rather than temporarily stopping the behavior.
