Join us for a joyous opening reception on October 23 from 5–9 p.m. Our roof refurbishment will finally be complete and we’re looking forward to seeing you all again in our refreshed galleries.
All of our new exhibitions and installations will be on view. Come and see work by local, national, and international artists who celebrate visual art as a tool for self-expression and resistance in the face of structured power.
Facing Change: Mexican Masking Today
Combining contemporary artworks with a curated selection of twentieth-century Mexican masks, this exhibition looks at the complex forms that masking takes across the Mexican diaspora.
Working with large-scale textile sculpture, puzzles, and historical photography, Las Vegas artist Krystal Ramirez considers the value of protest and proposes that interruptions to our accustomed ways of thinking can keep us anchored in reality.
Ingress: A Photopoetry Exhibition
Curator Maryam Ala Amjadi and photographer Sasan N. Chegini bring together street photography from Iran and translations of classical Persian poetry in a layered encounter between image and verse, tracing women’s embodiment across public space and literary memory.
Las Vegas artist Ali Fathollahi takes a sharply humorous look at the frailty and hubris of public communication in this new Window Gallery installation
The reception coincides with the UNLV Art Walk, a campus-wide College of Fine Arts event filled with performances, activities, refreshments, and more art. Visit the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art on October 23 and experience it all for free.
