Description

Please join us for the Nevada Visual Arts Education Association’s Annual Conference, October 24-26 at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The theme of the conference is Community in Arts, where we welcome artists, art educators, teaching artists, and arts administrators throughout Nevada. The annual conference features up to 15 hours of professional development over one weekend.

The conference begins at the Barrick Museum of Art on Friday, with a welcome reception featuring a talk by Fawn Douglas, an Indigenous artist, activist, and proud member of the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe. Following the opening reception is an opportunity to explore the UNLV Art Walk featuring a variety of arts, performances, and live music throughout the university campus. The first night is free and open to all.

Saturday is filled with art making workshops facilitated by art educators and local artists. Following the workshops, we have an opportunity to explore community-based art organizations and art spaces within Las Vegas.

Sunday, we will continue our exploration of community-based art organizations by visiting Clay, Paper, Ink for a special art making workshop.

Breakfast will be provided on Saturday and Sunday.

Throughout the conference we will be making art, getting practical recommendations for lessons in the art classroom, and networking with artists, art administrators, and art educators.

We hope you are able to join us.

This event is supported by the Nevada Visual Arts Education Association, the UNLV College of Education, the Barrick Museum of Art, and the UNLV College of Education.
