Description
Fatima Suarez, assistant professor of sociology, University of Nevada, Las Vegas
Professor Fatima Suarez presents insights from her book Latino Fathers: What Shapes and Sustains Their Parenting, shifting the focus from children’s outcomes to men’s lived experiences of fatherhood. Drawing on interviews with 60 Latino fathers in California, she explores how social forces shape, support, and sometimes constrain their parenting. The talk examines how these men navigate cultural expectations, balancing work demands, family responsibilities, and personal histories.
