Description

Join us for a Jiu-Jitsu class. This a grappling-based martial art and self-defense system with four main components: taking your opponent to the ground, passing their legs to gain a dominant position, pinning your opponent, and submitting them through various joint locks and chokes. Jiu-Jitsu emphasizes leverage, body mechanics, and technique, not necessarily strength, although it helps. Participants will learn various techniques to defend themselves against larger, stronger, and untrained opponents. All ages and skill levels are encouraged. Dress: athletic wear (shorts, tights, sweatpants, long or short-sleeve T-shirts).
