Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and engage with lectures on Latinx identity, culture, and community, presented in partnership with Student Diversity Programs (SDP) and the Barrick Museum of Art.
Come to one session or all — it’s your choice. Refreshments will be provided.
Program
- 11 a.m. – Virality con Corazón: Latinx Creators and Building a Brand
- Arthur Soto-Vasquez, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies
- Explore how Latinx influencers shape digital culture through creativity, identity, and community, and the role of algorithms in connecting with audiences
- 12 p.m. – Care Across Gender and Generations in Latinx Families
- Ivan Sandoval-Cervantes, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Department of Anthropology
- Understand care responsibilities in Latinx families across generations, gender roles, and shifting expectations, drawing on research and personal experiences.
- 1 p.m. – Dream Deferred & Futures Reimagined
- Nicole Stella, Director, Office of the Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education & High-Impact Practice
- Learn how colleges support students with intersecting identities and the strategies used to foster inclusion and success.
