Description
Securing funding is an essential part of graduate research, yet navigating the funding landscape can feel overwhelming. This workshop will introduce graduate students to a range of funding opportunities, including institutional awards, federal grants, private foundation support, fellowships, and other external funding sources. They will learn about author identity management and using ORCID to apply for funding and track the work they accomplish on funded projects. Participants will also learn practical strategies for approaching data management, DMSPs, and locating secondary data sources when working on funded research projects. This session will showcase campus support for funding and funded research, specifically for graduate students, and how they can utilize these resources to grow their own research portfolios.
By participating in this workshop, attendees will:
- Discover why author identity is essential to research funding, how to use ORCID to apply for funding and publish research.
- Identify key types of research funding support available to graduate students, including the Office of Sponsored Programs and funding platforms.
- Learn how to locate secondary data sources, tools for creating effective DMSPs, and data management strategies.
