Graduate assistants play an important role in teaching, research, and university operations while balancing the responsibilities of graduate school. This workshop introduces participants to the expectations of graduate assistantships and explores strategies for effective communication with supervisors, faculty, and students. Participants will learn how to build positive working relationships, navigate workplace challenges, and establish clear expectations and professional boundaries.
By participating in this workshop, attendees will:
- Learn the roles, responsibilities, and expectations associated with different types of graduate assistantships.
- Explore effective communication strategies to build professional relationships and navigate workplace conversations with supervisors, faculty, staff, and students.
- Develop approaches for managing expectations, setting professional boundaries, and responding to common workplace challenges as a graduate assistant.
