Description

The First-Generation Graduate Student Boot Camp is returning for its second year! This unique event is designed to welcome and support first-generation graduate students pursuing behavioral health and related degrees at UNLV.

Graduate school can be both exciting and challenging—especially for students who are the first in their families to navigate the experience. Many are balancing coursework with careers, family responsibilities, and other commitments while learning to navigate graduate education. This Boot Camp provides an opportunity for students to build community, hear from faculty, staff, and fellow first-generation graduate students, and discover campus resources that can support their academic, personal, and professional success.

Participants will engage in interactive discussions, connect with peers, and explore a variety of campus resource tables featuring services such as financial aid, student wellness, mental health support, basic needs resources, academic support, and more. Whether you're just beginning your graduate journey or looking to strengthen your support network, this event offers a welcoming space to build connections, gain valuable information, and feel empowered for success in graduate school.

Food will be provided!

We look forward to welcoming our newest cohort of first-generation graduate students and celebrating the unique perspectives and strengths they bring to our university community.
