Topics

September 3:  Let’s Chat!

Get your favorite beverage ready and settle in to catch up with colleagues from across campus.  This first session is an opportunity to learn more about what’s happening at UNLV and how you can stay informed.

October 1:  Navigating the Psychology of Emotional Tax in Higher Education

Saira Rab, Ph.D., assistant professor in residence within the Department of Psychology, will discuss burnout prevention and emotional strategies for handling frustrations and microaggressions in academia. Often isolated in our offices or limited to department interactions, academia can work to rebuild a healthier, more human-centered environment.

November 5:  Navigating Academia with a Disability

Jennifer Rennels, Ph.D., professor in psychological and brain sciences within the Department of Psychology, will discuss the importance of navigating academia with a disability. This is essential for promoting educational equity and creating a sense of belonging in higher education. It helps students access necessary accommodations, build self-advocacy skills, fight stigma, and establish a supportive community.
