On Wednesday, September 30, 2026, a 45-minute webinar, Empowering the AI-Era Learner: Moving from Institutional Policy to Pedagogical Action, is being hosted by CUMU.

This webinar will be facilitated by Sandra Richtermeyer, president of Nevada State University, and Kemi Jona, vice provost for online education at University of Virginia.

As AI continues to reshape the higher education landscape, institutions face a critical bottleneck: translating high-level AI policies into meaningful, classroom-level practices. While many universities have established baseline guidelines for academic integrity, a widening gap remains between writing the rules and actively fostering an environment where students feel empowered, ethically grounded, and engaged in their own learning.

This interactive webinar invites leaders to rethink academic integrity in the age of AI. Rather than focusing solely on detection and compliance, this session explores how we can shift the paradigm toward student agency. We will examine the real-time impact AI is having on our students and highlight emerging, practical solutions—both pedagogical and technological—that successfully bridge the gap between institutional policy and daily academic action.

UNLV faculty, staff, and students who wish to participate in the webinar must register in advance.
