Description
Mateo Hurtado de Mendoza, originally from La Paz, Bolivia, is a doctoral student in the Jazz and Commercial Music Department at UNLV. In his second doctoral recital, he presents a collection of his own compositions written for jazz octet. This program draws deeply from the hard-bop and post-bop traditions while intertwining elements of his Bolivian musical heritage, creating a vivid and personal sonic narrative.
The performers include Kyte Mettke on trumpet; Casey Davis, horn; Jason Knuckles on saxophone; trombone Dylan Musso; Cole Henriques on baritone saxophone; pianist Jacob Bowker; Sam Kurzontkowski on bass; and composer Mateo Hurtado de Mendozaon on drums.
Parking
Attendees are welcome to park in the Cottage Grove Parking Garage. Parking is free all day Saturdays and Sundays; Monday through Thursday after 7 p.m.; and Fridays after 1 p.m. During these times, visitors may park in any staff, student, or visitor space free of charge. Please observe handicapped/disabled, reserved, resident, and emergency parking restrictions at all times.
