Join us for "Demystifying Academic Freedom at UNLV," part of the "Campus Conversations in Peace & Civility" series. In today’s political climate, academic freedom in higher education is increasingly contested. This panel will explore the tension between faculty autonomy and public accountability amid changes in federal oversight, state legislation, and institutional governance.
The conversation will feature:
- Lakshmi Reddi, Ph.D., Executive Vice President and Provost
- Kirsten Brandt, Executive Director of Nevada Conservatory Theatre and Chair of the Department of Theatre
- Christopher Peterson, Legal Director for the ACLU of Nevada
- Michael Kagan, Joyce Mack Professor of Law, Director of the UNLV Immigration Clinic, and Chair of the UNLV Faculty Senate.
The program is presented by the Office of the Executive Vice President & Provost, Office of the Senior Vice Provost, and Office of Student Leadership, Identity, and Community Engagement.
