Description
"A Day at the Library," a collaborative project created by UNLV Department of Teaching and Learning students and local artists, is exhibiting at West Las Vegas Library from April 30 to July 12, 2026. A reception is planned from 1-2:30 p.m. on June 7.
About the Exhibition
During the spring 2025 semester, students wrote original children’s stories inspired by real or imagined experiences in the library. Throughout the semester, students developed characters, created book length narratives, and partnered with local artists to bring their stories to life through visual illustration. Curated by Chad Scott with the Department of Teaching and Learning and the Zeiter Literacy Center, the exhibit features: Magical Maisie’s Day at the Library with artist Q’shaundra James, Oakey the Okapi’s Day at the Library, Once Upon a Genre with artist Joseph Watson, and 3D artworks of all three stories created by artist and poet Heather Lang‑Cassera.
A Day at the Library is sponsored by the UNLV College of Education, the Department of Teaching and Learning, the Gayle A. Zeiter Literacy Center, and UNLV Art Education.
