Two of our UNLV alumni chapters and clubs are running donation drives this summer to collect items for local nonprofits. Support these chapters and clubs while making a difference in the community! Boxes for donations can be found in the Foundation Building (front desk) and the Richard Tam Alumni Center (front desk). Items will be collected through the end of the day on Thursday, July 24. Details for each donation drive are below:

African American Alumni Club Second Annual Natural Hair Care Drive

Donations will support Project 150, benefiting homeless and at-risk high school students in our community. The club is seeking donations of the following products designed for textured or natural hair:

  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Styling Products, such as pomade, hair and beard oil, curl mousse, styling cream/gel, hair wax sticks, detanglers, and leave-in treatments
  • Accessories, such as continuous spray bottles, durag headwraps, silk bonnets, wave brushes, wide-tooth combs, hair picks, edge brushes, elastic hair ties, and rubber band hair ties.

College of Education Alumni Chapter Book Drive

Support childhood literacy and the alumni-founded non-profit Spread the Word Nevada by participating in the College of Education Book Drive! The College of Education Alumni Chapter is seeking donations of new and gently used children's books, as well as raising funds through a virtual giving page.

  • New and gently used books are welcome!
  • Preferred reading levels: PreK–5th grade (ages 0-11), with a special need for 4th & 5th grade chapter books.
  • Please no:
    • Encyclopedias, dictionaries, activity books, workbooks, or coloring books
    • Books in languages other than English or Spanish
  • If you don't have books to donate but would like to participate, you can support this initiative by making a donation on the chapter's Spread the Word Nevada fundraising page. STWN can purchase a children’s book for just $2, so every dollar donated truly makes a difference.
