Each summer, UNLV hosts the Orff Teacher Certification program, sponsored by the American Orff Schulwerk Association (AOSA).

Amy Brown, Assistant Professor of Music Education, Pedagogy and Practice, is the course director and oversees the logistics of running the entire course. Each instructor must pass a certification process through AOSA, which includes an apprenticeship with a master teacher already teaching a course elsewhere in the country.

"For a number of years, UNLV music educators in the School of Music have held summer Orff Schulwerk workshops for community educators. Professor Amy Brown and her colleagues are carrying on this wonderful tradition," said Dean Nancy Uscher. "This is an outstanding example of the great community collaborations UNLV supports -- to provide opportunities to elevate the skill sets of colleagues throughout our region."
