Oleksii Hamov (UNLV Music, 2022) has published a new article titled “The Ukrainian Violin Sonatas Nobody Plays – and How to Play Them,” in The Strad, one of the most prestigious and widely recognized magazines for string players worldwide.
The article draws on his UNLV doctoral dissertation on Lapinsky and Silvansky sonatas. His doctoral project at the UNLV presented the first performance-focused study of the violin sonatas of Naum Lapynsky and Mykola Silvansky in Ukrainian musicology.
At UNLV Hamov studied under both Weiwei Le and Ambroise Aubrun, both of whoom also served on his DMA committee.
"We are proud," says Auburn of Hamov, "to see him continue to develop his career and, in particular, to see him continue to use and share the research he conducted at UNLV with the broader musical community."
