Three stacks of Senior Design booklets surrounded by Hawaiian leis

Nearly 50 student teams were celebrated, with winning projects ranging from a smart wardrobe assistant to a 4D immersive roller coaster simulator.

“Senior Design is proof that our students are well prepared for what comes next — whether that's entering the workforce, launching a business, or pursuing graduate school,” said UNLV Engineering Dean Rama Venkat. “And they're doing it armed with an UNLV Engineering degree and all the training and preparation that comes with it.”

The UNLV College of Engineering hosted its Spring 2026 Senior Design Awards Dinner on Wednesday, May 6, recognizing a range of student inventions that captured the attention of industry judges for their commercial potential, sustainable design, and innovative solutions to real-world problems.

From smart multi-joint leg brace that improves mobility and rehabilitation outcomes for stroke survivors to a soft-body inflatable system that helps reduce the risk of falls for hospital patients, the projects “span an impressive range,” said Venkat.

“These inventions show us what's possible when creativity meets engineering design and rigor,” he said. “I am confident that you are well prepared for a lifetime of engineering.”
