Aderemi Gbadamosi
The Grad Rebel Student Highlight is a weekly series by the UNLV Graduate College that recognizes students for the impact of their research, teaching, leadership, extracurricular involvement, community service, or any other outstanding qualities. This week's highlight features Aderemi Gbadamosi, Ph.D. student in Civil & Environmental Engineering.
Aderemi Gbadamosi is a third-year Ph.D. student in Civil & Environmental Engineering at UNLV. His research focuses on developing alkali-activated ultra-high-performance concrete (AA-UHPC). He investigates how various supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) can replace cement and be activated with alkaline solutions to produce UHPC with comparable or superior properties to conventional cement-based UHPC. This work aims to eliminate the use of cement, a material responsible for approximately 7% of global carbon dioxide emissions.
In addition to his research, Aderemi serves as a Grad Rebel Ambassador, representing and supporting the UNLV graduate student community. In this role, he fosters connections between graduate students and the broader campus community while sharing his experiences to highlight the value of graduate education. Through this work, he continues to develop his leadership and communication skills while contributing to student success and engagement at UNLV.
