UNLV Faculty Senate

Sense of the Senate
Regarding Reduced Credit Degrees

The UNLV Faculty Senate supports innovation in curricular design. However, the Senate calls for extreme caution in adopting reduced-credit degrees until there is extensive discussion of (a)  the need to produce well-rounded citizens, (b) the impact on General Education, (c) the impact on the ability of students to be accepted to graduate schools, (d) mission alignment across the NSHE, and (e) impact on accreditation, excellence, and further opportunities for continuing education and employment.

Fundamental changes to the curriculum should be driven by faculty.
